The Nottingham Women’s Counselling Service (NWCS) upholds and practices the ethics of Person Centred Counselling. It is governed by a memorandum and articles of the association of NWCS, has charitable status, and is an organisational member of B.A.C.P.

NWCS has been in operation in its present form since 1999 and until 2005, managed by volunteers. The Service is now expanding through social enterprise to cope with client need. NWCS has been awarded the Investing in Volunteers Award.

Membership to NWCS is open to all women in Nottinghamshire over the age of 18 and volunteer roles are generally as a committee member or counsellor: recruitment to the NWCS committee is by informal interview and will include the reason for volunteering.
